Very recently, I met up with a friend whom I haven’t seen in 15 years!

We went to a popular Chinese restaurant for dinner. Amongst other things, we ordered some roast pork and my friend specifically requested for 三层肉 or “3-layered pork”. For those who don’t know, the 3 layers are meat, blubbery fat and crispy skin with more fat attached underneath.

This was not the description of “roast pork” on the menu of this restaurant, but it is a reputable Chinese restaurant and the attendant got the idea.

When the order chit came, this was what was noted:

If you don’t read Chinese, get a friend to read it aloud for you.

Better still, get a friend who can read in Cantonese.
